Sports Development

Royal Bafokeng Sport is mandated to coordinate our various sporting codes, at varied levels, throughout the RBN. RBS is a PBO that works to develop youth and people on our land through sport-related education and fitness.

We support six sporting codes throughout our 29 villages: netball, basketball, rugby, football, martial arts and athletics.

RBS runs a structured development programme for all six sporting codes in all 44 schools on RBN land. We employ full time coaches who provide necessary daily and weekly training and also coordinate and manage mass participation in sports in the RBN villages. We also identify, nurture and manage elite athletes who come through the ranks from the schools programs and the mass participation in the villages.

Apart from our task of inspiring youth and empowering sportspeople, we are also the custodian of professional, club, and community-level sport.

On top of this, we also work towards establishing our nation as a economically-viable sports-hub, creating both jobs and revenue for the community.

Some of the assets that are managed by the Royal Bafokeng Sports include:

The Bafokeng Sports Campus A 65-hectare, high-altitude sports training destination
Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, which is a 45,000-seat stadium and athletic complex. The Sports Palace was an official venue for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The Royal Marang Boutique Hotel
The Royal Bafokeng Sports Academy, which is responsible for the intake of talented children selected from the Bafokeng villages.
