Our commitment to lifelong learning for Bafokeng adults is delivered through two key programmes: adult basic education and training (ABET) and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

The ABET programme addresses adult illiteracy and supports out-of-school youth by providing foundational literacy, numeracy and life skills. Meanwhile, the TVET programme offers alternative education pathways for those who have not completed matric or tertiary education, focusing on equipping learners with practical and employable skills. Together, these programmes support our broader vision of empowering the Bafokeng people towards greater self-reliance and economic participation.

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET)

The Royal Bafokeng Academy for Lifelong Learning oversees our adult vocational education initiatives. These are designed to respond to critical skills shortages and to improve employability by aligning training with market demands and economic opportunities.

• Construction school (Maile): Offers hands-on training in construction trades with practical application through community-based projects.
• Hospitality school (Phokeng): A three-year programme in hospitality and hotel management. The campus includes classrooms, an IT centre, a professional-grade training kitchen and a fully operational training restaurant.
• Business school: Offers four accredited programmes leading to three-year national diplomas in human resource management, public relations, tourism and marketing.
• Nursing college: Opened in 2011, the college trains students in essential healthcare practices to serve local and regional health needs.
• School of sign language and braille: Also established in 2011, this school promotes inclusive education by training individuals in South African Sign Language and braille literacy, supporting the needs of the deaf and visually impaired communities.

These institutions play a vital role in building a skilled, adaptable and self-sustaining Bafokeng workforce.
